What We Do
We gather to worship and serve God.
Our services are unique and, as far as we know, there is nothing quite like them anywhere in the Triangle area. We seek to provide a quiet respite from the day-to-day world, where believers can unite in respectful worship of God through Holy Communion or Morning Prayer. The worship of God is the focus of all our services and is both our obligation and our joy. We worship through song, prayer, reading of Holy Scripture, and homily or sermon. Our services resemble the early practices of the Church. We strive to uphold the traditions and sacraments that Christians have practiced for many years to praise God. We celebrate special days throughout the calendar year as a church family – and we always welcome newcomers!
We worship through song.
Our early morning service is usually said or spoken, and our later service is full of song. Our music is sacred and traditional. We offer praise and thanksgiving to God by singing hymns. Our choir meets regularly and is always seeking new members – join us in making a joyful noise unto the Lord!
We worship through prayer.
Prayer is a substantial part of our service. We believe it is through fervent prayer that we can listen as God speaks to us. We pray with humility and love. The beauty of our service is the majestic language of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. It appeals to us because we believe it provide us with the most Christ-centered worship, guiding our daily, weekly, and seasonal spiritual lives. On the third Sunday of every month in our later service, we corporately practice Morning Prayer.
We worship through Holy Scripture.
We believe that Holy Scripture should shape our daily lives. We are called to hear, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them. We believe Holy Scripture is critical to our knowing and understanding of God, and we therefore read several lessons from the King James Holy Bible during each service. We use other translations in our study and personal devotions. We follow a Liturgical Calendar, meaning the Scriptures we read during any given service embodies biblical patterns of worship, which enables us to worship God joyfully and with one voice. If you join us, over the course of a few years you will have read a large portion of the Holy Bible in our services!
We worship through homily or sermon.
Our sermons, streamed live on Facebook, are inspiring and Biblically sound. The goal of the homily is to expound upon the Holy Scripture read during the service and to direct our focus towards God. It is through these lessons that we hear the truth, in love, and we learn how to apply God’s Word to our everyday lives, striving each day to be more and more like Him.
We serve God by loving our neighbor.
We believe that every good gift and every perfect gift comes from God. His greatest gift to us is His sovereign grace to us in Jesus Christ. Our mission is to share God’s abundant love with others. We are invested in the community, both narrowly and broadly defined. Within our parish, we host Bible studies, book clubs, and movie nights. We hold Sunday School and Youth Group activities for our children. We raise funds for local homeless shelters and gather canned goods for a food pantry. We support ministries that help unwed mothers and college students. We contribute to disaster relief closer to home and Anglican mission endeavors around the globe.
